Frequently Asked Questions
I've pulled together some of the most common questions regarding the design process here, but it is by no means comprehensive. Feel free to contact me should you have additional questions or need something specific – I'm always happy to help!
Getting Started
Where do I begin?
Right here! Start by contacting me for your complimentary consultation today and we can get together to discuss what you have in mind. Need ideas? I can help with that as well. I'd be happy to look over your event details in person and come up with suggestions that will suit your personality and theme perfectly!
How long does the process take?
It depends on a variety of factors really, but in general, from the time we meet to the time your stationery is delivered in about one to eight weeks. That's why it's important to plan ahead and meet as soon as possible.
What is Letterpress and why is it more costly?
Letterpress is the oldest form of printing and is decidedly elegant. In this method, a surface with raised letters is inked and pressed into a paper substrate to create an image in reverse, thus impressing the paper with the letters and ink. The result is a three-dimensional, tactile work of art.
It's more costly than digital printing for a few reasons, but the main reason is it is a highly skilled craft where everything is done by hand. From mixing the inks to hand-feeding the paper, everything is overseen and done individually with the best quality materials available.
Design & Ordering
The Design Process
It all starts with a complimentary consultation! We will discuss your ideas, event details, get to know each other and have a conversation about what your expectations are. I'll gather your information, details and make some preliminary sketches for your review. From there, we'll see if it's a good fit! We can discuss inks, paper choice and pricing as well, upfront, so you know exactly how to budget your expenses for your wedding. No surprises!
What should I bring to our consultation?
Everything! Seriously, bring anything that has inspired you: color swatches, clippings, your Pinterest boards, anything that you've looked at that you love! It will help me get a better idea of your perfect stationery.
The Proofing Process
Once you're ready to place your order, I ask for a 50% non-refundable retainer to start your uniquely you design. Within four to five days, you'll receive a PDF proof with your designs to review. Please review the proof carefully! Have your friends, family and fiancé review the proof as well so that everything is correct and accurate.
Revisions & Approvals
There are two rounds of revisions included with your process, any further revisions may incur additional fees. Please note, you are solely responsible for proofing all copy and details on your stationery. Once approved, your item(s) will be sent to print according to the most recent, signed off PDF as final.
Printing & Delivery
Choosing Paper & Inks
Each project is completely unique and will require individualized attention to these details. Whether you have colors already selected or need assistance, I will guide you through properly selecting the right combination of ink(s) and paper for your project. (Some projects call for no ink at all!)
When will I receive my stationery?
From the moment you sign off on your final PDF, it will take about one to eight weeks to receive your stationery, depending on the processes involved in printing your project. All delivery estimates will be discussed in detail when your order is ready for print. We can hand-deliver, ship or have you pick up your project. (Some additional fees may apply.)
Can I rush my order?
More than likely, yes. Please contact me as soon as possible to discuss your needs and timeline to see if I can meet your expectations.
Can I re-order?
Absolutely! Please contact me as soon as possible for a re-order to ensure a timely delivery.
General Questions
I found a design I love online – can you copy it?
Unfortunately, no. I respect the ideas and copyrights of all other designers. That said, we can use that design as a starting point to create something unique to you and your event that you will love just as much! It's great that you're finding ideas and inspiration for your own stationery, let's talk!
Can you just design my invitations/stationery? I want to print them myself.
Of course! A large part of my business is offering graphic design services. I will be happy to design your invitations, stationery, menus, programs, etc., all to your liking and specifications. Once your fees are paid, the files are yours to do with as you please! I'm always available to answer questions at any time, even after a project is complete. Let's get started!
When do I need to order my invitations or Save the Dates?
Save the Dates should be mailed six to twelve months before the wedding, so you should contact me as soon as possible to start your design process. Since invitations should be mailed six to eight weeks prior to the wedding (twelve weeks, if it's a destination wedding) you should contact me at least four months before the wedding – sooner if at all possible.
A note on ordering, while you only need order one invitation per household, it's a good idea to order ten to fifteen extra invitations. Plan for the unexpected! Sometimes there's a late add-on to the invite list or one is returned via mail and you'll want a fresh one to resend. And you'll definitely want some as keepsakes!
Do you offer calligraphy services?
I have a few friends in the area that do wonderful calligraphy work and would be happy to help you with your calligraphy needs. I'll be more than happy to recommend you to them!
Are envelopes included in the price?
Absolutely! The cost of the invitations includes coordinating white envelopes plus 10% extra for your calligrapher. Colored envelopes or extra quantities may incur extra fees.
Can you just send me a price sheet?
Every project is unique, so I don't offer a generic price sheet. I price all custom work on a case-by-case basis to allow each project the best economy and the best quality possible.
I need help with wording, can you help me?
Absolutely! While it's great to have a general idea of what you'd like your invitations to say, I can definitely help you figure out the nit-picky details of the proper formatting. There are also some great resources online you might want to check out such as The Knot's Wording Wizard.
Do you only offer letterpress printing?
I also offer traditional and digital printing as well! This can compliment your letterpress suite nicely and can save on overall costs. Or you may choose to completely forego letterpress in favor of traditional printing methods, the choice is up to you! We can discuss the various options at our consultation to see which method is the best choice for your needs.
What other products and services do you offer?
Everything you might need! Save the Dates, invitation suites, rehearsal dinner invitations, programs, table numbers, menus, thank you notes, shower invitations, party invitations, personal stationery – let's talk!
I also provide graphic design services à la carte for logos, monograms, marketing materials and many other needs – just ask!

Working with Molly for my invitation suite was absolutely an amazing experience. From start to finish Molly was so pleasant, gracious, dedicated and genuinely committed to making our invitation design perfect for what I envisioned. She is extremely thoughtful and kind, and also came up with wonderful designs that made it difficult for me to choose from because they were all stunning! I loved that each design option she came up with reflected what I envisioned in one way or another. This was hands down the best wedding vendor experience I have had thus far in planning my wedding. I never once felt like I was bothering Molly or inconveniencing her, as I have felt with other vendors. She was unbelievably accessible and quick to respond for any and all questions about the process, and was extremely up front and honest about everything, timeline and price included. I could not have asked for anything more from Molly, because everything was simply exceptional. I highly recommend Molly and Fingerprint Designs to anyone! This was a flawless and extremely pleasant experience. So refreshing in the industry!

We were pleased to work with Molly on a couple of occasions, mainly for branding and ad design work. She has excellent talent for listening to a client's needs and desires, and quickly turning around multiple options that both meet those needs and push the envelope appropriately in terms of creative direction and simplification. Her counsel has been spot-on for us and we look forward to working with her more in the future. We highly recommend her services for others.
